Memorial Day

On this day in America we remember and honor those who have fought and died to keep this country free.  I want to thank all those who have fought in our military and those who are fighting....America would not be the same, might not even be, without you.
Thinking of our soldiers I was reminded of the verse in
2 Timothy 2:3-4 which says,
"You therefore must endure hardships as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.  No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier."  We too are soldiers for the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."
Ephesians 6:12
Just as a good soldier is focused on what his Commander has sent him to do so we should be focused on the mission our Lord has sent sent us to do.
"...he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left."
2 Chronicles 4:2b
What is that mission?
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen."
Matthew 28:19-20

May you and I, just like the soldiers who fight to keep America free, stay focused on the mission our Commander has sent us to do...to free those who are prisoners in the arms of sin.
Happy Memorial Day!

Learning to delight in Jesus,
Hannah
